We had rain covers for two bodies and four people who needed them. One camera did not survive the weekend. The photographs it made before it died are the reason we are not sorry.

Rain flattens light and soaks colour into everything. Wet marble, wet silk, wet marigold — all of it richer than it would have been dry. Naina’s lehenga weighed twice as much by the end of the night and she has said since that it was her favourite hour of the wedding.
